Virus culture

Success in dealing with bacterial disease was enabled by the ability to grow pure colonies of bacteria in glassware and study them in detail. Goodpasture developed an analogous technique to culture viruses in eggs which contain living cells. This technique enabled closer virus study and vaccine development, particularly for diseases like poliomyelitis.
