Very long baseline array

The Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) is an astronomical instrument comprising ten radio telescopes spread over 5,000 miles, from Hawaii to the Virgin Islands. It produces highly detailed images, offering insights into galaxies 300 million ly away, as well as minute movements of the tectonic plates on Earth, for example that Europe is moving away from North America at 0.8 inches per year.
